"I would like to say a huge big thank you to Mike for making my 4 night stay a great experience! I would highly recommend this guest lodge to anyone that is looking for a special place to stay. I'm glad I found it! Just off junction 29a of the M1 you can't go wrong. Mike keeps the place spotlessly clean with very comfortable rooms and a breakfast that’s fit for a king. I have already recommended this guest lodge to friends. I just hope that the next time I visit Chesterfield; Mike can find a spare room for me! - Thanks again Mike, hope to see you again soon.

I just wish to say how much we enjoyed our one night at your B&B. You made us feel like family and the room was wonderful. The breakfast was gorgeous and I wish we could have stayed longer. We are planning on doing a tour of Derbyshire at some point and I think we'll be using you as our base.
I have passed your details onto my Father In Law who travels to Edinburgh to visit his wife's family and likes to stop off and he was very interested. I'm also going to hand out some leaflets.

"Stayed at the Markham Vale Guest Lodge for two nights while attending a course nearby.
You would have to go a long way and probably still not to find somebody as welcoming and sociable as Mike (the proprietor and all round great guy).
Room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. Breakfast (I ordered poached eggs) was the best that I have had anywhere. Hoping to return in the very near future."

The Rooms we booked were of a very high standard and very clean. The breakfast was excellent especially the poached eggs I had on my first day.

"I have just returned from 4 day stay at the Lodge and I cannot
praise it enough. Having seen all the rooms, I was amazed to see them all
spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated .
The open plan kitchen & dining area is again spotlessly clean and brand
new and the owner allowed us to eat a Take away evening meal, using cutlery
and whatever we wanted.
As if that wasn't enough, a sitting room is also provided for guests, with
comfortable sofas and television.
The owners, Mike and Jo were very friendly and very helpful with any
requests and made the stay even more pleasant.
Highly recommended and suggest early booking to save any disappointment!

"Originally from Bolsover, wanted accomodation for 4 adults Mike suggested the family room, which was spotless, very pretty and well kitted out, better than some 4star we have stayed in . Mikes first contact was to offer a cup of tea when we arrived , which made us feel welcome. The breakfast was excellent, no greasy plates here, and plentyfull....much better than a hotel, fresh coffee not instant would have been nice, but i AM picky. Overall GREAT B and B well done Mike and Joe, pleasure to stay where people care about standards.
