no complaints!!
Mike & Jo are really welcoming, and friendly, a really relaxing atmosphere, rooms are spotless & comfy, all you need is in the room even a hairdryer girls, breakfast was delish and there was plenty to eat, Mike kept me going with my coffee lol, will deffo reccommend mike & Jo's B&B, mustn't forget Kat who was working while we stayed there lovely pleasant young lady.

"If you are on diet & have no self control don't even think of having one of Mike & Jo's breakfasts. Quite the largest full breakfast I have ever been served up in any of the B & B's we have stayed in over the years. Our room was superb & spotless, you have really thought of everything. You two are the most perfect "Mine Host". Thanks again for making us so welcome.

"May we thank you for a wonderful stay and can I say you are honoured because this is the first “review” I have ever given. The room was quite superb and any misgivings that we might have had regarding the nearness of the M1 were quickly and soundly (in terms of sleep) dispelled. We really enjoyed the chat at breakfast, you and your other guests were amiable and really interesting to talk to.

"We stayed in this beautiful B&B. It was absolutely gorgeous. The whole place is clean and has lovely style. Mike and Jo were very welcoming and made our stay all the more enjoyable. The rooms were immaculate and the breakfast was lovely too. I can't say anything negative about this B&B. We would love to stay here again.

"I stayed at Markham Vale Guest Lodge just last Wednesday & Thursday 16th & 17th February 2011 & i must say i was very welcomed by Mike, the rooms were fantastic, very clean & very welcoming, the breakfast in the morning was brilliant, could'nt fault a single thing. I fully recommend this beautiful guest house & the friendliest hard working man called Mike.

"This is the best B&B I've EVER stayed at! The room was lovely, clean, modern and good looking, there was an agreable sitting room you could spend the evening in, and the breakfast was great. The very best part, however, was the owners Jo and especially Mike, who were absolutely amazing to me. I was sick, and not a very good driver, so Mike got me medicine and made sure I found my way to Chatsworth by lending me his sat nav! I've never met a more thoughtful and considerate host, and now I am trying to find reasons to come back to Chesterfield just to stay here."

"From the moment you arrive at the Markham Vale Guest Lodge you are made to feel relaxed and welcome, Mike is one of the most easy going people you could wish to meet. My husband and I spent 3 nights and were very pleased to find such a gem within easy reach of the all the historic buildings we wished to visit.
The accommodation is kept to a very high standard and breakfast is varied (whatever you want just ask), nothing is too much trouble for Mike.

Perfect for 3 nights away from London! Big brekkie every morning so we were ready for our long hikes and the lodge is not too far from all the other attractions the peak district has to offer. I just wish to say how much we enjoyed our one night at your B&B. You made us feel like family and the room was wonderful. The breakfast was gorgeous and I wish we could have stayed longer. We are planning on doing a tour of Derbyshire at some point and I think we'll be using you as our base.
I have passed your details onto my Father In Law who travels to Edinburgh to visit his wife's family and likes to stop off and he was very interested. I'm also going to hand out some leaflets.

"Stayed at the Markham Vale Guest Lodge for two nights while attending a course nearby.
You would have to go a long way and probably still not to find somebody as welcoming and sociable as Mike (the proprietor and all round great guy).
Room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. Breakfast (I ordered poached eggs) was the best that I have had anywhere. Hoping to return in the very near future."

"I have just returned from 4 day stay at the Lodge and I cannot
praise it enough. Having seen all the rooms, I was amazed to see them all
spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated .
The open plan kitchen & dining area is again spotlessly clean and brand
new and the owner allowed us to eat a Take away evening meal, using cutlery
and whatever we wanted.
As if that wasn't enough, a sitting room is also provided for guests, with
comfortable sofas and television.
The owners, Mike and Jo were very friendly and very helpful with any
requests and made the stay even more pleasant.
Highly recommended and suggest early booking to save any disappointment!

"Originally from Bolsover, wanted accomodation for 4 adults Mike suggested the family room, which was spotless, very pretty and well kitted out, better than some 4star we have stayed in . Mikes first contact was to offer a cup of tea when we arrived , which made us feel welcome. The breakfast was excellent, no greasy plates here, and plentyfull....much better than a hotel, fresh coffee not instant would have been nice, but i AM picky. Overall GREAT B and B well done Mike and Joe, pleasure to stay where people care about standards.
